Privacy Policy — Hivewright
This policy explains what information the mobile game Hivewright (“the game”) handles, why, and who it is shared with. The game is published by BlairsLab (“we”, “us”). If you have a question, contact us at privacy@blairslab.co.nz.
Summary
- The game has no accounts of its own and no chat. We do not ask for your name, email, location, contacts or photos.
- Your progress is saved only on your device. We do not run servers that receive your game progress.
- Leaderboards are optional and provided by Google Play Games. If you are signed in to Play Games, your best floors are sent to Google and shown to other players under your Play Games name.
- The Founder rank on our Discord server is optional. If you claim it, we store your claim code with your Discord user ID.
- Video ads are optional: one only plays when you choose to watch it for an in-game bonus. When you do, Google AdMob receives device and ad information to show the ad.
- Purchases are optional and handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information stored on your device
So you can continue playing, the game saves on your device:
- Game progress: your hive, resources, research, equipment, climb progress and story progress.
- Settings, such as music and sound-effect volume.
- Records of earned ad rewards, so each bonus is given exactly once.
- For purchases: a one-way fingerprint of each purchase, so it is given exactly once, and whether you own the Lantern Pass. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into your purchase details.
This information stays in the game’s private storage on your device. It is not sent to us.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect personal information through the game. The game does not request location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or similar permissions, and it contains no analytics or crash-reporting services of our own.
Google Play may send us anonymous crash and performance reports through its Android vitals service, depending on your device settings. These do not identify you.
3. Optional rewarded video ads (Google AdMob)
The game can offer optional video ads that give an in-game bonus. A video only plays when you choose to watch one; there are no forced ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC, and are limited to content suitable for general audiences. To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect:
- device information, such as device model, operating system, language and screen size;
- the device’s advertising identifier, where permitted;
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- information about the ads shown and your interactions with them, and diagnostic information about ad performance.
This information is encrypted in transit. If you are in a region that requires it, such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Google’s consent form asks whether ads may be personalised before any ad loads. How Google uses this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your Android device settings under Google > Ads (or Privacy > Ads).
4. Optional in-app purchases (Google Play)
The game offers optional purchases, such as the Lantern Pass (which removes video ads), time skips and resource bundles. Nothing is required to play. Purchases are made and paid for through Google Play billing, a service of Google LLC; we never receive your card or payment details. When you buy something, Google Play gives the game a signed receipt, which the game checks on your device before granting the item. The game also asks Google Play which permanent purchases you own, so it can restore them on a new device and remove them if they are refunded. This happens on your device; purchase information is not sent to us. Google’s handling of payments is described in the Google Payments Privacy Notice. Google provides us with order records for our accounting, as it does for every app on Google Play.
5. Optional leaderboards (Google Play Games)
The game has optional leaderboards for the highest floors climbed. They are provided by Google Play Games Services, a service of Google LLC. You can play without them. If you are signed in to Play Games on your device, or choose to sign in from the game, the game sends Google your best floors so they can be ranked. Google links them to your Play Games profile, and other players can see your Play Games name, picture and scores on the leaderboards. We do not receive your name, email address or Google account details; we can see the same leaderboards any player can. Achievements you earn are recorded on your Play Games profile in the same way. If you press Back up now in the game's settings, a copy of your game progress is stored in your own Google account as a Play Games saved game, so you can restore it on another device; nothing is backed up unless you press that button, and we cannot read these backups. You can change what your Play Games profile shows, sign out, or delete your Play Games data for this game in the Google Play Games app or your Google account settings. Google’s handling of this information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Optional Founder rank on our Discord server
If you buy the optional Founder item, the game can show you a claim code so you can receive the Founder rank on the BlairsLab Discord server. The claim code is the purchase token Google Play issued for that purchase. It leaves your device only if you choose to copy it and give it to our Discord bot with the /founder command. When you do, the bot asks Google Play whether that purchase is valid, and we store the claim code together with your Discord user ID and username, so that one purchase can be claimed by one Discord account and the rank can be removed if the purchase is refunded. We keep this record for as long as you hold the rank. To have it deleted, contact us; the rank is removed with it. Discord is a separate service with its own privacy policy.
7. Children
The game is intended for players aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will help delete it.
8. Who information is shared with
| Recipient | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| Google (AdMob) | Device and ad information listed in section 3 | Only when you choose to watch a video |
| Google (Google Play billing) | Purchase and payment information, handled by Google as described in section 4 | Only when you choose to buy something |
| Google (Google Play Games) | Your best floors, linked to your Play Games profile, as described in section 5 | Only while you are signed in to Play Games |
| Google (Google Play) and Discord | Your Founder claim code is checked with Google Play; the rank is given through Discord, as described in section 6 | Only when you choose to claim the Founder rank |
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless required by law.
9. Keeping and deleting your information
- Game data stays on your device until you delete it. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes your progress. We cannot recover it.
- Information collected by Google AdMob is kept under Google’s policies. You can manage it through your Google account settings, and you can reset your advertising ID at any time.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under Australia’s Privacy Act 1988, New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to its use. Because we do not hold personal information about you on our systems, most requests are best handled on your device or with Google directly, but we are happy to help. Contact us at privacy@blairslab.co.nz.
11. Security
Your game data is stored in the game’s private storage on your device. Ads and payments are handled by Google using its own security measures.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the game handles information, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the game’s update notes.
